　　经常有人说：在一个人通往成功的道路上，努力比选择更重要。固然，后天的努力很重要;并且对于多数人来讲，这绝对是取得成功的唯一途径。但我不认为毫无方向感的努力会让一个人成功。不能否认，做出一个明智的选择在个人的成功中发挥着至关重要的作用。比如说，科学家之所以能够有许多具有里程碑意义的发现，是因为他们选择了正确的行业、领域和方向。换言之，如果让一个物理学家去搞关于文学艺术的创作，不见得这个科学家会有多大的成就。

　　尽管选择的意义不容忽视，这并不是说大家可以一味地选择而忽视了辛勤努力的重要性。如果一个人努力的方向正确，那么迟早这个人会取得成功，但前提是这个人也得付出努力。并且，正确的方向是后天努力的必要组成部分，因为它可以让个人事半功倍。如果一个科学家没有朝正确的方向努力，那么他/她是不会有重大突破的。因此，我个人的建议是不要一味地选择而不去把自己的想法付诸于实践。相反，你应该朝着正确的方向努力那么成功自然而然地便会降临到你头上!

　　Quite often, it has been said that it is hard work rather than making the right choice that contributes to one’s success. Admittedly, diligent work is very important and is absolutely the exclusive way to success for most people. Nevertheless, I cannot second this statement. It cannot be denied that a wise choice often plays a significant role in triumph. For example, many milestone discoveries have been made due to the fact that the scientists have chosen the right profession, field and direction. In another word, if a physics scientist is forced to write literature and art works, there is little chance that the scientist will make a difference.

　　While the influence of a good choice cannot be neglected, this is not to say that one should depend on nothing but it and ignore the value of industrious efforts. If one has chosen the proper direction, I believe that success will eventually be achieved sooner or later on condition that he or she strives. More often than not, a correct direction is an essential ingredient of efforts because it enables one to yield twofold results with half the efforts. If the scientist does not moved forward in the appropriate direction to develop his or her knowledge and skills, he or she may not make key breakthroughs. Therefore, my suggestion is not to count on relentless selection without putting your ideas into practice. Instead, work hard in the right direction and then victory will fall upon you.
